This moody storm rolled through Death Valley National Park on the last day of my visit, in May 2019, and even landed a few drops of rain! But the real drama came when the sun, buried in those clouds for the previous several hours, burst free at the horizon just before dropping behind the mountains. (The sun’s rays over the mountain peak reminded me of the “Eye of Providence” that appears in many historical documents, as well as on the back of the U.S. one-dollar note.)
